Change is normal – not hard. We are adapting to our environment from the day we are born. What makes it feel so difficult are the barriers we build for various conscious and unconscious reasons to prohibit this change – our blind spots.
Healthy organizations (like people) are adaptable and have a huge system-immanent capacity to grow and “fix” themselves when needed. However, when this capacity is locked, organizations often spend a tremendous amount of energy and money without moving forward.
In these moments, instead of pushing harder towards their aspired vision, a more empathic approach, which tries to understand these barriers, can save an organisation not only a tremendous amount of money but also a lot of frustration and energy.
